The last Summer day.

It is officially fall and summer has left us. One of my favorite places to go is the Arboretum and I just didn't have enough time this summer to enjoy it. The weather as of right now is rainy but the last few weeks have been lovely. Gorgeous weather with a bright sun. When I go to take photos at the Arboretum, I feel like its a rather special occasion, so I try to pick an outfit that is something I normally wouldn't wear out and about. I love getting dressed up in my vintage lounge wear. Now the Arboretum is really big, deciding on a spot is step one. Then its a matter of lighting, I must have taken 20 photos before I found good lighting. If you're going to be somewhere lovely, you might as well look like it.

Where I was, is where they keep all the plants that grow on vines. There are usually hops growing, its really a pretty place to sit and have lunch and a cold drink.

Today I bring you great news. I will finally be moving forward in my fashion career and leaving the resale world behind, to go be Diesel's new visual merchandiser! I can not tell you all enough how excited and proud of myself I am. This is a huge step forward for me. I have always worked in resale/vintage shops and to be working with such a desirable label will be exciting and extremely rewarding. I can not wait to start my new job and start moving forward to better things.

A few fall trends.

Fall is officially in the air. Summer has had it's final curtain call for the year. The nights are cooler, the sun is starting to go down earlier, and pumpkin ales are on draft at the bar. Now it's not full blown fall yet, but it is that time to start transitioning into fall fashions. When I lived in Florida we really didn't have a fall season, so for the last two years it's been fun learning to dress seasonally. One of my favorite fall trends is over the knee socks. It's not warm enough to totally wear shorts, but it's not cool enough for pants during the day either. Over the knee socks are great for transitioning between seasons.

Another fall trend favorite is of course, light layering. I love layering light pieces, especially slips. Over the years I have acquired an impressive collection of vintage slips and am always trying to incorporate them into my daily wear. I typically wear them around the house and in my room lounging away. If you're going to wear a slip out of the house, you have to layer it with other pieces. Some examples would be a knitted crop top, a sheer blouse, or even just a simple cardigan. I opted to go with my tan lace tank top since it's still really nice out and not too cool.

I never wear heels in the city anymore, too much walking around. Thankfully in this scenario I was just around the corner from my house so the walk wasn't bad at all. The shoes I'm wearing, are my staple black pumps. I got them at Forever21 years ago and they pretty much go with everything. The idea of wearing all back, but with different textures is so appealing to me. For example, a black denim skirt, with liquid leggings, and patten leather shoes and purse. The hat box, I've had for about a year now. One of my favorite finds at Boomeranges, it was $4! I needed something to carry, and the hat box complimented my shoes perfectly.

Ha! Hows that for a blog post! I feel like I don't talk about my favorite trends enough. I would like to try to incorporate that into posts more often. Is there anything as a reader you want to know more about on the blog? What are some of your favorite fall trends?

Forest green shutters.

Late night watching Hello Dolly, one of my movies. I felt inspired to take some photos last night, which I haven't done in a long time. Nor have I taken any photos in my new apartment! Now I really didn't have an outfit that was straight out of Hello Dolly, but I've had the really pretty green dress for some time now I bought and just haven't worn yet. There's a line in the movie, saying that if Horace Vandergelder had any sense, he'd repaint the shutters forest green. Its a key point in the movie, that they reference at the end. So pulling my inspiration from that, I threw on my favorite "lady" shoes and gloves.

Before I settled with lighting and everything, I took a few test shots, this one actually came out nice. The lighting in my room is really nice, I didn't have to use the big over head light.

The metal purse in this photo belonged to my great grandmother from my dad's side. Its from the 20's and so pretty, I have 2 of them.

I never think to take photos of the accessories or anything like that when I do outfit photos, but I didn't forget this time! Also, the gold necklace, was my great grandmothers on my moms side. I love incorperating these special pieces into my outfits.

Fine leather goods.

Well a few months ago I lost my book bag, which I carried everything in. I was so sad and had to carry my things in a shoulder bag for a little while till I got a new back pack. My friend Adam has a nice collection of back packs and he really got me into them as well. He spent $350 on a Jansport back pack, and I have to say it is pretty amazing. I found my lovely new brown leather back pack at Buffalo Exchange. It is by London Fog.

Moonrise Kingdom inspired our looks.

My best friend Chelsea (an associate manager at the Buffalo Exchange in Boston/Alston, MA) is my go to gal. We go on mini adventures together all the time and also share a love for fine leather goods. When she saw my new one, she insisted on getting one herself. No sooner than 2 weeks go by and she called me to tell me she got in at her store a great brown leather back pack and it was currently on her hold. Once she bought it, I knew we had to take our back packs out for an adventure.
Photobucket

I literally spend my whole day out of my house. So I typically carry everything I can possibly think Ill need, just in case, I stay some where else or I want to put a different shirt on. I also love the difference between our two back packs. They suit us both like a glove.

The perfect floral romper.

I finally found the perfect floral romper, and it belonged to my best friend Chelsea which I didn't know when I tried it on. I have been looking for one for sometime now and this one even has pockets! I have worn it a few times now. One of the vintage hats I bought at Brimfield goes so perfectly with it. For work, we had to come in and wear our favorite summer trendy outfit and I of course wore the romper. I photographed all the girls in 30 minutes! I even got a few of myself, because I haven't had a chance to take any photos for this lovely blog.

The only thing I forgot to do, was change my shoes! So I'm wearing my crappy (but awesome) keds and I was totally going to wear my new Sam Edelman flats. I took some photos with other people! I got Fatima and Rachel in this one.

Then Jon and I got one together, he is so rad. He is also wearing an amazing Burberry shirt and Burberry jeans. He is truly a savvy shopper.

In the world of Lovely, I am creeping up on my 6 month review and I've just been preparing for that and hanging out. I have to say, the last two Sunday/Monday's have really been the best. Ive got to hang out with my best friend and drink with my BadVille friends. Hopefully I'll be going back to Brimfield in July and I'll be moving back to Jamaica Plain in the coming days. All in all things have been good, but super busy! Always on the move. Bring it on summer.

Xoxo.

More than 4 sentences.

99% of the time I never know what to write about on my blog. I am more of a visual person, even when I check out other people's blogs... I kind of just skim over everything and look at all the pictures. I had the sudden urge to write a little bit and what better way to stop complaining and just blog. Ive got my "space jams" playing in the background and a mind full of things to share.

For a long time now I have always said I am adjusting to something new that's going on in my life. Weather it was a new apartment, or say a new job, I feel like I've used it as an excuse for just not blogging on a more regular basis. I have to say I'm pretty adjusted to how things are at the moment. My job is fantastic. I haven't worked somewhere in a long time where I really wanted to dive in and have it be all consuming, but I feel that way about working at Buffalo Exchange and I want to continue down the rabbit hole. I got to do this awesome vintage blog post for The Buffalo Exchange blog (<---click there) as I had mentioned in my previous post. Chelsea was great, my boss Lisa was very proud of us and let us do that during our shift. I got to do this (blogging) at work, for work. My life has just taken off in this great new direction of fashion, style and inspiring people. I have always posted randomly, and I always make myself feel bad for not blogging more, when there are tons of other bloggers like myself who post when they can. I really do feel like its a "Quality over Quantity" thing. Id rather post a few really great blog posts then rush a ton of them and it just look like I put no effort into it. Now I feel like I'll be blogging full time on top of working full time, but doing both together. There are so many great opportunities to do a style report and blog post for the store and I have so many great ideas, only good things will come of this. I am beyond excited. Tonight I went out with some co-workers of mine and had such a lovely time. When I was sitting there I realized this is what I need to be doing and it felt great. I basically want to consume myself with what I am doing. Even now, it's 1:15 in the morning and I'm up catching up on blogs and street fashion photos and blogging. I totally am clocking in at work at 9:30 this morning; I'm going in early to tag a ton of merchandise and put it out on the floor. It's so worth it thought, because we'll get so much done and ready for the weekend, I wont be stressed about it so much. I work all weekend and I am so ready for whatever happens.

Life lately

Today's post is a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. Some really awesome things have been happening lately and they are defiantly worth sharing. First, may I just say, having cats around again is soooooooo awesome! Little Bonnie is literally sitting in my lap right now and its the cutest thing ever. Cat blogging! I know Julie of Orchid Grey would appreciate this haha. So the first cool thing, I got to meet another blogger friend of mine. Roni of Roni feels nostalgic. She was such a sweet heart! I felt bad though because I didn't really have time to chat the store was soooo busy that day! I had just enough time to have a photo snapped before I had to ring up a line of customers.
Photobucket

Next, I finally made it on the Buffalo Exchange tumblr! For the last 2 weeks I have been working on doing more blog stuff for the store and it's finally paid off and what a wonder feeling it is. When I saw the photo posted last night I about had a mini freak out. I couldn't stop laughing.

*Photo was taken by Chelsea for the store outside in Davis Square. It was to show off the amazing leather hat.

So with working on the blog for work Chelsea and I did the amazing vintage photo shoot together for the store. This lady came in last week and sold us soooo many amazing vintage dresses! It was all together an $1800 buy. So for the store I decided to showcase them. We are still in the process of putting that post together, but here is a sneak peek of one of the dresses we modeled.

Buffalo Gals

Since I started working at Buffalo Exchange, I have been dieing to do more blog stuff for their Buffalo Exchange Blog and my girl Chelsea and I decided to go out and photograph some lovely vintage dresses! She was just as excited to do this like I was. We love our job so much and our store and really wanted to showcase more. We finally had a day off together where we could get out and take photos. She came to JP and we took a walk to Franklin park, where I showed her the abandoned zoo. Needless to say, the photos came out awesome!
