The last Summer day.

It is officially fall and summer has left us. One of my favorite places to go is the Arboretum and I just didn't have enough time this summer to enjoy it. The weather as of right now is rainy but the last few weeks have been lovely. Gorgeous weather with a bright sun. When I go to take photos at the Arboretum, I feel like its a rather special occasion, so I try to pick an outfit that is something I normally wouldn't wear out and about. I love getting dressed up in my vintage lounge wear. Now the Arboretum is really big, deciding on a spot is step one. Then its a matter of lighting, I must have taken 20 photos before I found good lighting. If you're going to be somewhere lovely, you might as well look like it.

Where I was, is where they keep all the plants that grow on vines. There are usually hops growing, its really a pretty place to sit and have lunch and a cold drink.

Today I bring you great news. I will finally be moving forward in my fashion career and leaving the resale world behind, to go be Diesel's new visual merchandiser! I can not tell you all enough how excited and proud of myself I am. This is a huge step forward for me. I have always worked in resale/vintage shops and to be working with such a desirable label will be exciting and extremely rewarding. I can not wait to start my new job and start moving forward to better things.

A few fall trends.

Fall is officially in the air. Summer has had it's final curtain call for the year. The nights are cooler, the sun is starting to go down earlier, and pumpkin ales are on draft at the bar. Now it's not full blown fall yet, but it is that time to start transitioning into fall fashions. When I lived in Florida we really didn't have a fall season, so for the last two years it's been fun learning to dress seasonally. One of my favorite fall trends is over the knee socks. It's not warm enough to totally wear shorts, but it's not cool enough for pants during the day either. Over the knee socks are great for transitioning between seasons.

Another fall trend favorite is of course, light layering. I love layering light pieces, especially slips. Over the years I have acquired an impressive collection of vintage slips and am always trying to incorporate them into my daily wear. I typically wear them around the house and in my room lounging away. If you're going to wear a slip out of the house, you have to layer it with other pieces. Some examples would be a knitted crop top, a sheer blouse, or even just a simple cardigan. I opted to go with my tan lace tank top since it's still really nice out and not too cool.

I never wear heels in the city anymore, too much walking around. Thankfully in this scenario I was just around the corner from my house so the walk wasn't bad at all. The shoes I'm wearing, are my staple black pumps. I got them at Forever21 years ago and they pretty much go with everything. The idea of wearing all back, but with different textures is so appealing to me. For example, a black denim skirt, with liquid leggings, and patten leather shoes and purse. The hat box, I've had for about a year now. One of my favorite finds at Boomeranges, it was $4! I needed something to carry, and the hat box complimented my shoes perfectly.

Ha! Hows that for a blog post! I feel like I don't talk about my favorite trends enough. I would like to try to incorporate that into posts more often. Is there anything as a reader you want to know more about on the blog? What are some of your favorite fall trends?

Forest green shutters.

Late night watching Hello Dolly, one of my movies. I felt inspired to take some photos last night, which I haven't done in a long time. Nor have I taken any photos in my new apartment! Now I really didn't have an outfit that was straight out of Hello Dolly, but I've had the really pretty green dress for some time now I bought and just haven't worn yet. There's a line in the movie, saying that if Horace Vandergelder had any sense, he'd repaint the shutters forest green. Its a key point in the movie, that they reference at the end. So pulling my inspiration from that, I threw on my favorite "lady" shoes and gloves.

Before I settled with lighting and everything, I took a few test shots, this one actually came out nice. The lighting in my room is really nice, I didn't have to use the big over head light.

The metal purse in this photo belonged to my great grandmother from my dad's side. Its from the 20's and so pretty, I have 2 of them.

I never think to take photos of the accessories or anything like that when I do outfit photos, but I didn't forget this time! Also, the gold necklace, was my great grandmothers on my moms side. I love incorperating these special pieces into my outfits.
